Welsh rugby's top coaches have been given the low-down on the Experimental Law Variations that will be implemented in the new season. Welsh Rugby Union analysts led by Wales squad expert Rhys Long have compiled a dossier on the controversial laws. The dossier will be given to Cardiff Blues, Ospreys, Llanelli Scarlets and Newport Gwent Dragons' coaching bosses.

The Rugby Football Union has agreed a new set of standards after four members of the England squad were accused of a serious sexual assault in New Zealand. The four players have denied the allegation in the "strongest terms". The new code of conduct will come into force from 1 July when players will sign their new elite rugby contracts.

Southern hemisphere unions South Africa, New Zealand and Australia will trial two of rugby's experimental new laws in the 2008 Tri-Nations matches. The two new laws for the Tri-Nations will permit the pulling down of the maul and remove the requirement that teams match numbers at the lineout. New Zealand host South Africa in Wellington on July 5 in the opening Tri-Nations fixture of the season.
