One story which slipped past us during CES was that Sony announced their MemoryStick Sony Duo storage cards will be available in 4 and 8 GB capacities some time in 2006. This will no doubt be of great interest to Sony PSP owners but perhaps less interesting to digital camera owners as the majority of Sony digital cameras which take Duo are likely to find 1 GB more than sufficient.

Sony today announced the ultra-compact DSC-L1, a four megapixel digital camera featuring a new three times optical zoom lens which is considerably more compact than any Sony lens before it but provides a 32 mm wide (ish) angle. Looks wise the DSC-L1 is closer to the DSC-U series but has a larger LCD monitor (1.5" vs. 1.0") and the zoom lens.

An image was recently leaked on the N4G forums, which showed downloadable PlayStation 2 games in the PS Store. The poster claimed that the image was given to him by a friend who worked at Sony London, and that the service was expected to roll out this summer. Hirai said during a Thursday PlayStation business briefing that Sony has been cutting PS3 manufacturing costs by reducing the number of components and decreasing the size of chips.
