At Kotaku's party on Sunday night, I asked many people what games they were playing or what they were excited about. To my shock, many people answered with the name of their favorite iPhone game or application. In fact, one industry professional whipped out his iPhone and gave me a lengthy demo of Aurora Feint; I turned around and showed him my favorite game, MotionX Poker.

Over at Opposable Thumbs, our very own Ben Kuchera was somewhat surprised to find that many of his game-reporting brethren were excited about the iPhone as a gaming platform. It could be that the App Store had just launched and gamers were just fond of the new offerings, or it could be that the iPhone may in fact turn into a legitimate gaming platform. Considering the second possibility...

More signs are emerging that Apple is taking new steps to restrict iPhone hacking with the release of the iPhone 3G. A word of caution to all of you that bought the iPhone on opening weekend: your warranty is about to run out. The folks at TUAW have reminded us that the one-year anniversary of the launch of the iPhone is approaching. Unless you are planning to upgrade your current soon-to-be old 'n' busted iPhone to a shiny new 3G iPhone very soon, you could be out of luck if your iPhone breaks.

All the WWDC rumors may be focusing on the new iPhone hardware we may see tomorrow. If you ask me, though, the far more compelling (expected) release is the iPhone 2.0 firmware and iPhone App Store. I'm more jazzed about iPhone software than new hardware, and tonight's announcement from Sling Media is a great example of why. Purveyor of an Internet-streaming peripheral called the Slingbox...
