Pre-PMA 2007: The Coolpix S50 and S50c digital cameras (the latter has an improved version of Nikon's WiFi transfer functionality) continue the S series' tradition with slim cases, 3x zooms, big (3.0-inch) screens and 7.1 megapixel CCDs. The good news is that the new models are even smaller, and have the added benefit of optical image stablization (VR).

Nikon Japan has today released new firmware for the D2X and D2Hs digital SLRs. Firmware version 1.01 makes improvements to auto focus, fixes an AF assist bug when using certain Speedlights, improves flash performance and fixes a manual white balance bug. At the moment this firmware update is only available in Japanese, we will update this story as soon as other regions publish the firmware.

Sony has today announced a firmware update for the recently introduced DSC-R1 digital camera. This update appears to correct for hot pixel artifacts in certain exposures.
