Q: I keep hearing that I need to have commodities in my portfolio. Do I really? A: Name just about any commodity, and prices have been soaring. Oil. Corn. Steel. The story is the same.Growing worldwide demand for basic materials, and a weak dollar, have driven up prices. And that's causing investors to wonder whether they need to add commodities to their portfolios.

Mercedes-Benz has accused profiteering oil companies of ripping off diesel buyers and fears such action may kill the U.S. diesel passenger car market in its infancy. While oil prices have hit new highs, the pump price of diesel has surged to be more than a dollar a gallon higher than gasoline in some U.S. states, even though it is cheaper and less energy intensive to produce. And Mercedes-Benz...

Most computer users know they should back up the files on their computer, yet many don't. Why not? No computer techie can answer this question, which is why both Leo and I have to ask. We're computer nerds and, as such, backup is part of our DNA. Techies can't put themselves in the shoes of the millions of computer users who don't back up their computers. We're different. So...

ScienceDaily (Jun. 16, 2008) European researchers have made significant progress unravelling how genes are governed and why this sometimes goes wrong in disease. The key lies in the dynamic ever-changing structure of the chromatin, which is the underlying complex of protein and DNA making up the chromosomes in which almost all genes are housed within the genome.

Since the advent of Lexus, enthusiasts have bemoaned the certain conservatism found in the Toyota luxury brand. Despite efforts to inject a little excitement into the lineup, they have remained rather stodgy — until now. The grades have finally been posted. Lexus got an F. What Is It? Originally, Circle F was the code for what would eventually become the Lexus division. After that...

JIDDAH, Saudi Arabia (AP) Saudi Arabia is willing to produce more oil if customers need it, the kingdom's oil minister said Sunday without citing any specific output increase. Saudi Arabia, the world's largest oil exporter, has been under intense pressure from the U.S. and other oil consumers to increase its crude output to help slow the soaring price of oil.

Industrial action and attacks from militants have forced the two biggest oil companies in Nigeria to cut their production. Exxon Mobil and Royal Dutch Shell are both reducing output, which is helping to keep oil prices near record highs. Militant groups in the Niger Delta have blown up a section of a Shell pipeline, in the fourth such attack in the last seven days.

Look at CBS, getting all swingy on us. And why not? Had the network aired this sex-swap-in-the-suburbs roundelay in season as it had planned, TV's watchdogs would have howled, advertisers might have balked, and viewers might have wondered why CBS was taking such a major risk with a minor, mediocre series. But it's summer when standards are looser, expectations are lower and the living...

Oil prices have set another record high, picking up from last week, when the record was broken every day. Light sweet crude for June delivery hit $126.40 a barrel in New York, before falling back to trade below $125. The weak US dollar and growing concerns about supplies of oil have been blamed for the six sessions of soaring prices.

I own a janitorial company. My business is relatively new. We will be celebrating our fourth year this fall. I have a dilemma I hope you can help me out with. Because I am new to the business world I have been keeping my prices low to keep business flowing. Over the past six months my employees have been asking for raises, and some have left because I haven't increased their wages.

Oil prices have rebounded above $113 a barrel on concerns about Turkish air raids against Kurdish targets in Northern Iraq. Worries about the raids appear to have outweighed the strengthening US dollar, which has pushed oil prices down in the last three days. US light sweet crude had fallen 6.8% from its record near $120, but has now risen to trade at $113.27 a barrel.
